This fabulous?locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era has?a stylish buckle motif! Made of sterling silver, the piece is quite substantial in size, and features a bold?3-dimensional buckle that lies vertically across the face of the locket. When opened, the interior reveals a lock of hair still preserved inside, which could be removed if desired or left intact. The back of the piece is left smooth, and a large fluted bail is attached to the top, perfect for hanging from a favorite silver chain. A very striking Victorian era piece, it makes a stylish?statement when worn and would ?make a striking?addition to any collection!?
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 3/4" long, is 1 1/2" wide, and measures?5/8"?at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the?sterling setting or raised buckle motif. The hinge is in good working condition, and the locket opens easily and closes securely. The bail at the top is secure and intact. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver that gives it a darkened antique appearance. This is normal for a Victorian era piece, but the silver could be polished for a brighter look if desired.
